The new cast of Dancing With the Stars was announced on Good Morning America this morning—and at first glance, season 22 has the potential to be a real winner. Younger fans will tune in for Fuller House‘s Jodie Sweetin and The O.C.‘s Mischa Barton, while Donald Trump’s ex-wife, Marla Maples, will surely be a hot topic in this election year. Sports fans have their fill with Von Miller, Antonio Brown, Doug Flutie, and Paige VanZant. And ’80s fans will love seeing The Facts of Life‘s Tootie (um, that would be Kim Fields) compete against former talk show host Geraldo Rivera.
Of course, season 22 will also make headlines for reasons unrelated to the cast reveals. Head judge Len Goodman will return after missing season 21, but Julianne Hough will not. Hough’s brother, Derek, has also decided to sit this season out after winning the Mirrorball trophy with partner Bindi Irwin in the fall. Alison Holker is due to give birth with husband tWitch later this spring, so Edyta Sliwinska is stepping back onto the dance floor. Sliwinska has been off the DWTS roster since season 10, when she was paired with All My Children‘s Aiden Turner. Noticeably absent this season (so far) is fan favorite Emma Slater. While there is still the possibility of a 13th contestant being added (Our guess? The Bachelor‘s Ben Higgins), a DWTS source says today’s list is the full list. We’ll know for sure in a week.
So, without further ado, take a look at the complete (for now) list of everyone competing on Dancing With the Stars this season and their partners. We’ll be in the ballroom each Monday night to bring you all the backstage scoop and reactions, so see you back on Glamour.com on Monday, March 21 for the two-hour premiere!
Keo Motsepe and Jodie Sweetin
What Jodie’s Known For: Playing Stephanie Tanner on Fuller House and Full House, in which she walked off the stage during a performance of Motown Philly (watch here). Sweetin, 34, is a mom to two young daughters, Beatrix and Zoie, and is engaged to Justin Hodak.
Our Prediction: Sweetin’s partner, Keo Motsepe, hasn’t had much luck during his competitive years on Dancing With the Stars (the last three seasons saw him eliminated all within the first three weeks of competition), but you can finally expect him to stick around. Sweetin has a dance background, and thanks to her rabid fan following, she and Keo should make it to the semi-finals. Plus, after a rocky few years between Full House and Fuller House, everybody loves a comeback.
Artem Chigvintsev and Mischa Barton
What Mischa’s Known For: Playing Marissa Cooper on The O.C.. Much like her character on the FOX nighttime soap, Barton has struggled with drugs and alcohol and a rocky relationship with her parents. She is currently working on several smaller and independent films, including The Hoarder, which comes out on DVD on April 5.
Our Prediction: We’re not quite sure. Audiences still love Barton and would love to see her return to her glory days of the early 2000s. If she can dedicate herself to Dancing‘s tough rehearsal schedule and become a fan favorite, then you can expect her to go to far.
Val Chmerkovskiy and Ginger Zee
What Ginger’s Known For: The California native is Good Morning America‘s chief meteorologist since taking over for Sam Champion in 2013. She just gave birth to her first child, Adrian, a few months ago with her husband, Ben. She’ll be commuting between New York and Los Angeles for the duration of her DWTS run.
Our Prediction: Fans love the bubbly Zee, and she’s a natural talent on the dance floor. She’s also got fan-favorite Val, so expect these two to at least make it past the halfway mark and potentially into the finals.
Peta Murgatroyd and Nyle DiMarco
What Nyle’s Known For: The 26-year-old deaf actor won America’s Next Top Model in season 22. He has a fraternal twin brother.
Our Prediction: Unless DiMarco can’t dance at all (which probably isn’t the case), these two should do quite well. DiMarco will be one of the most inspiring figures among this year’s cast.
Tony Dovolani and Marla Maples
What Marla’s Known For: Being Donald Trump‘s ex-wife. Together they have a 23-year-old daughter, Tiffany. Maples is an actress and radio host.
Our Prediction: If Dovolani is trying to win his second Mirrorball trophy, it’s probably not going to happen with Maples by his side. Then again, no one expected Donald Trump to make it this far in the political process, so what do we know?
Sharna Burgess and Antonio Brown
What Antonio’s Known For: Being the wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 27-year-old has four children.
Our Prediction: Football players have been hit or miss on DWTS as of late, but we expect Sharna Burgess to have a better outcome with Brown than with former NFL great Keyshawn Johnson.
Witney Carson and Von Miller
What Von’s Known For: Being named MVP of Super Bowl 50 as part of the Denver Broncos, where Miller is an outside linebacker. He operates his own farm and raises chickens.
Our Prediction: If he forges a strong bond with Carson, he’ll go far. If their personalities don’t mesh, then expect some trouble along the way.
Karina Smirnoff and Doug Flutie
What Doug’s Known For: Being an NFL quarterback for the Chicago Bears (1986), New England Patriots (’87-’89; ’05), Buffalo Bills (’98-’00), and San Diego Chargers (’01-’04). Flutie is married to his high school sweetheart, Laurie, and together they have a daughter, Alexa, and a son, Doug Jr. The elder Flutie made news last November when he announced that his parents died one hour apart from heart attacks.
Our Prediction: Flutie is comfortable in front of the camera, where he’s been an NFL analyst for years, but will that translate to musicality and rhythm? Our hunch is that we have the next Bill Engvall on our hands, but don’t hold us to that just yet!
Lindsay Arnold and Wanya Morris
What Wanya’s Known For: Being one third of the R&B group, Boyz II Men. Morris still tours with the group, and they recently performed during FOX’s Grease: Live. He is married with children and resides in New Jersey.
Our Prediction: If Arnold can take Alek Skarlatos to the final three, then there’s no telling what she might able to do with Morris.
Mark Ballas and Paige VanZant
What Paige’s Known For: Being a UFC fighter. She’s 21 years old and from Dayton, Oregon. Her parents owned a dance studio, and she was brought up dancing ballet, jazz, and hip hop. It’s been reported that she got into martial arts after being bullied by classmates growing up.
Our Prediction: VanZant seems like the perfect fit for the dance floor and Mark Ballas. She’s young, fit, and has dance experience. Expect these two to go far.
Edyta Sliwinska and Geraldo Rivera
What Geraldo’s Known For: Hosting Geraldo from 1987-1998. He also appears regularly on the Fox News Channel. He’s been married five times and has five children.
Our Prediction: Not great. Although fans will be happy to see Edyta back in the ballroom, we expect Rivera to have an early exit—unless, of course, his on-set antics and bold personality endear him to viewers who want to see him stick around.
Sasha Farber and Kim Fields
What Kim’s Known For: Playing Tootie on The Facts of Life, and most recently joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She’s been married twice and has two children.
Our Prediction: Sasha Farber is back in the fold now that Derek Hough is sitting this season out. Other than that, the jury is still out on this coupling, though we’d be surprised if they last past the halfway mark.
