While the summer movie season has passed the halfway point, there is still plenty to be excited about over the next few months. For example, Warner Bros.’ highly-anticipated Suicide Squad will hit theaters exactly one month from today on August 5. To get the countdown started properly, Warner Bros. has released a new poster, featuring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
The poster, which debuted on Twitter, comes alongside new magazine covers from Costa Cine, one of which features The Joker by himself, toying with a pendulum that has the logos for each Squad character. The second magazine cover features the rest of the team together, including Harley Quinn, Deadshot (Will Smith), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman) and Amanda Waller (Viola Davis).
It feels good to be bad…Assemble a team of the world’s most dangerous, incarcerated Super Villains, provide them with the most powerful arsenal at the government’s disposal, and send them off on a mission to defeat an enigmatic, insuperable entity. U.S. intelligence officer Amanda Waller has determined only a secretly convened group of disparate, despicable individuals with next to nothing to lose will do. However, once they realize they weren’t picked to succeed but chosen for their patent culpability when they inevitably fail, will the Suicide Squad resolve to die trying, or decide it’s every man for himself?
The supporting cast includes Scott Eastwood, Common, Ike Barinholtz, Jim Parrack, David Harbour, and Alex Meraz. Ben Affleck will also return as Batman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, although it isn’t known how large or small a role he has in this movie. The actor was seen in videos and photos from the set hanging atop The Joker’s sports car as it sped through the streets of Toronto.
David Ayer directs Suicide Squad from his own script, based on the DC Comics. We reported earlier this year that Warner Bros. wants David Ayer and Will Smith to return for Suicide Squad 2, which could start shooting in early 2017, but that hasn’t been confirmed quite yet. While we wait for more on the sequel, take a look at this new poster and magazine covers for the highly-anticipated Suicide Squad.
