Can you envision “Duck Dynasty’s” Phil Robertson as a U.N. ambassador? Apparently one of the GOP presidential contenders can.
Us Weekly reports that Ted Cruz suggested during his presidential campaign rally on Friday that Phil Robertson would make a good U.N. ambassador.
“You know what? There is a reason he terrifies the mainstream media,” Cruz said. “He says things you’re not supposed to say. He actually remembers who we are as Americans and he speaks it with a joy. Not with an anger, not with a hatred — with a joy in who we are.”
CNN reports that the campaign rally took place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Cruz added that it would be funny to watch other representatives and officials around the world to gasp at the “Duck Dynasty” star’s blunt words. He asked the crowd how much “would you pay to see the Russian ambassador’s face when Phil says, ‘What is wrong with you people?’”
Ted Cruz knows people are probably well acquainted with Robertson’s other controversial comments in the media about social issues and one in particular in which he declared same-sex marriage “evil” and “wicked.”
45-year-old Cruz is good friends with Robertson, 69. In January, Robertson endorsed Cruz for president.
“My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow,” Robertson says in the video. “Is he or she godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job and finally — would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo? I’ve looked at the candidates. Ted Cruz is my man. He fits the bill.”
At a presidential rally in Iowa last month, Phil Robertson said Ted Cruz would be the best one in helping restore the nation back to its “Christian roots.”
