Custom Wolverine 3 & X-Men Comic Cover Art Unveiled

Now this is awesome! To thank original X-men director Bryan Singer for giving him the role of a lifetime, Wolverine 3 star Hugh Jackman has had custom comic book covers created that feature both himself and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Singer showed off these mini-masterpieces on Instagram, which were created by famed Marvel comics artist Joe Quesada. Here’s what the director had to say.

“Thank you so much @thehughjackman for commissioning the brilliant comic artist #joequesada to make these fantastic and very personal covers for me. I will cherish them and our long friendship and collaboration always!”

The art itself is very reminiscent of the 80s X-Men comics, but it doesn’t really give us any hints about the upcoming final installment of the spin-off series with Wolverine 3. The ‘3rd and Final Issue’ stamp confirms that the movie will be Hugh Jackman’s last go as iconic Mutant Logan. He first appeared in the 2000 X-Men and has since gone onto appear in all 6 standalone X-Men movies as well as the first two Wolverine movies. Hugh Jackman has this to say.

“It all started with you BUB! 1999-2016! From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love, Hugh Jackman”

Wolverine 3 will hit theaters on March 3, 2017. It is tentatively titled Weapon X, and is said to feature X-23, a mutant cloned from Logan’s DNA. The end-credit sequence in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse teased that Mister Sinister is the main villain in this final installment of the Wolverine series, but director James Mangold shot down that theory saying the bad guy was ‘kinda corny’. The first trailer for Wolverine 3 should be on its way in the next two months. Until then, enjoy this custom art.
